BRUSHSTROKES is an Art Club and we offer classes in fine-art painting, Monday through Friday, in Watercolor, Acrylic, and Oil where Artists' abilities range from “beginner" to "experienced”.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Instruction Classes - 12 weeks per session and 3 hours per class

Instruction group classes can accommodate students of various painting levels.

The instructor provides information on painting principles and techniques for a portion of the time and for the remaining time will circulate to provide individual guidance to each student working on their own paintings. The instructor may also give class demonstrations or projects to help illustrate certain painting concepts.

All participants must be a current member of the FLC Seniors Club.

Studio Classes - 12 weeks per session and 3 hours per class

Studio classes do not have an instructor and provide artists a group opportunity to paint, socialize and share knowledge and ideas with other artists while working independently on their own painting projects. All three types of media may be used - acrylic, oil and watercolour.

All participants must be a current member of the FLC Seniors Club.

COSTS:

INSTRUCTION CLASSES - $250 for Winter 2025 session: 12 Classes (3 hours per class)

Students are responsible for their own supplies.

STUDIO CLASSES - $105 for Winter 2025 session: 12 Classes (3 hours per class)

SESSIONS:

There are two twelve-week sessions per year
Fall (September 15 -December 8, 2025) and Winter (January 12 -April 6, 2026)
All Classes (Instruction and Studio) are 3 hours per week
Class size is limited to 11 people (provides room to paint and facilitates personal attention from the instructors (see below)

LOCATION:

All classes are held at the Willow Ridge Community Association - 680 Acadia Drive, S.E.

EVENTS:

Brushstrokes tries to hold social and learning events throughout the year where the artists may gather, discuss, mingle and enjoy a painting demonstration.

ABOUT US:

Brushstrokes is run by a volunteer Board of Directors with a set of Bylaws and Regulations. Please contact us if you are interested in Brushstrokes and tell us your experience with painting and what medium you paint with. We have a short wait-list for classes and we will offer you enrolment as soon as possible.

REFUND POLICY: No refunds will be given beginning 15 days prior to the first class of the fall or winter session. Before that date refunds may be made for the following reasons only:

Member’s medical issues

Death in immediate family

Relocation out of town
