SUMMARY: PEARCE ESTATE PARK TO BRIDGELAND PLAZA – 25 K
THE ROUTE: The ride will go across the Bow River at 17 Ave, then north and west along the north side of the river past the Zoo to the Baines Bridge into St Patrick’s Island. [Pit Stop] Then south across Baines Bridge into Inglewood along 12 Steet into Ramsay, looping back to Confluence Park and the River Walk. We then go north across George C King Pedestrian Bridge, east and across the “cork screw” CTrain pedestrian bridge into Bridgeland where we will have lunch at the 1 Ave SE Plaza (Starbucks, etal).
After lunch the ride will go back over the CTrain bridge, then west along Bow River to Prince's Island. [Pit Stop]. We then go north across the pedestrian overpass into Sunnyside looping west along the pathways and residential streets to the Kensington CTrain overpass and bridge, crossing south on to the River Walk pathway going east past Prince's Island and Eau Claire. The last stretch is east over Elbow River thru Inglewood pausing at Harvey Passage the finishing at Pearce Estate.
COMPLEXITY: The tour is essentially "flat", however, there are pedestrian overpass ramps to negotiate. Note: there maybe route changes to suit City of Calgary infrastructure construction,
RIDERS: Arrive no later than 9:40 am to have you bike ready, meet your fellow riders and review ride instructions as a group. Departure is at 10:00 am sharp. Please use Jake's cell number for additional info.
Come prepared with helmet, emergency info, spare tube, sunglasses, sunscreen and smiles! Recheck the ride writeup after 8:00 am, the day of the ride for possible changes. If the ride is cancelled, email notifications are sent to all riders registered for the ride.
MEETING LOCATION: The starting location is the parking lot at Pearce Estate Park. Enter the park at 17a St SE off Blackfoot/17 Ave SE. Park at the south end of the west side of the parking lot.
