Cycling Ride

Level 2

Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 10:00am

Complexity:

Expect continuous rolling hills with 2 steeper hills (1; a long steep climb, 2; a more gradual climb) to give you a wonderfully challenging ride. The overall distance is 34 km, but it does cover more than 420 m total ascent (garmin). You will travel mostly on paved paths with the occasional gravel path and some quiet residential roads.

Ride Details:

Meet fellow cyclists in the parking lot closest to the skating pond/restaurant at 9:40 am for a 10:00 start. We will travel over the Stoney trail pedestrian Bridge and continue uphill alongside Stoney Trail. This is a long steep hill and may be slower for those on pedal bikes. We then go west through Tuscany and cross 12 mile Coulee Road into Watermark. We will see their numerous water features and have lunch at their playground. After reaching the most western edge of the city, we will go back into Tuscany and head for the 12 mile Coulee bike trail which goes along the ridge and gives wonderful views of the mountains and cityscape. The trail ends on the familiar Tuscany Blvd and we repeat a bit of the trail to take us out of Tuscany, down a hill only to start our climb into Rockland Park. This hill is long but more gradual. We will tour this new community and ride along the Bow River Ridge, then make our way back to Bowness park.
