NEVER riding on Hwy 2 we ride the Trans Canada Trail to the North end of Airdrie, explore the canal districts and return via the TCT.
Complexities: Approx 9 km total (out and back) ridable flat and wide gravel road with light traffic ideal for gravel bikes and also suitable for bikes without skinny high pressure tires e.g. 32+ mm or 1 1/4+". Some parallel ruts to dodge just North of the Stony Underpass but the pathway is wide and there are no cars in that section. Secondary roads have 60km/h posted speed limit, no shoulders and light traffic. Wear high visibility clothing or vest and use your flashing front and rear lights if you have them.
Starting at the MacDonalds at 11155 - 14 St NE (just West of Deerfoot and South of Country Hills Blvd we follow the sparsely signed and hard to find Trans Canada Trail and ride it all the way to Veterans Blvd in the North end of Airdrie. West then South though the canal districts with lunch at Chinook Winds Regional Park (toilets). Return South via the East side of Cross Iron and return on the TCT. Click Here for a route map
Helmet and Bell required. Bring water, lunch, medical info and tools/tube/pump for minor repairs to your well maintained bicycle.
If you need to cancel to allow those on the wait list to participate follow the instructions on the ride signup page
Start point directions click here Since the parking lot is private property I suggest you park on 110 Ave West of the traffic circle and then make the very short ride to the start point.
