This out of town ride will take us from the Big Dinosaur in Drumheller, along the Red Deer River on bike paths to the east end of town where we will meet up with a gravel rail trail to Rosedale. We then head south on Highway 10X (Eleven Bridges) to the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne where we will avail ourselves of their varied menu. Reservations have been made. The route is flat.
Please arrive at the Badlands Community Facility parking lot on Riverside Drive in Drumheller (just east of the Big Dinosaur) by 9:45AM for a 10AM departure. It's a 15km ride along a mixture of paved pathways, gravel pathway (rail trail) and secondary highways (Eleven Bridges Trail). The gravel rail trail in not crushed gravel so it is most suited for bicycles with 1.5" wide tires or greater. The secondary road is paved with narrow shoulders and very light traffic. There are washrooms at the Community Facility and the Last Chance Saloon. After lunch we will return the same route. arriving in Drumheller at approximately 2:30PM.
The drive to Drumheller from Calgary is approximately 90 minutes.
