This is a repeat of the April 20th ride. Sharon Batshaw, a first-time ride leader, will co-lead this ride
We will meet at 9:45am at Mallard Point. At 10am we will then proceed south along the pathway to the Bow Valley Ranch then continue west through the Park to Votier's Flats for a short rest stop.
We then go back east a short distance then turn north to access Canyon Meadows Drive and cross McLeod Trail on pathways. We then cross Canyon Meadows Drive at Bonaventure Drive to access the pathway along the Parkland ridge. We then drop down from the ridge to Bow Valley Ranch for lunch.
After lunch we return east along the pathway to Mallard Point. The distance is approximately 25km with one moderate hill. Washrooms are available along the route.
Come prepared with the following: your lunch, your helmet, which is mandatory, water, emergency information, sun glasses, sun screen, spare tire tube, tire pump, band-aids, and a lock for your bike should a lengthy stop be planned, Be sure that your bike is in good working order. You should have a bike bell, your electric bike batteries should be fully charged, and your tires should be properly inflated. Your brakes and gears must be in good working order, and it helps to have a clean chain. Bonus points for those that have both a mirror and a bell! Be sure to use both when passing other riders or pedestrians, or making a left turn on a road.
Recheck the ride description after 8 am on the day of the ride for possible ride cancellations or other changes. If the ride is cancelled, email notifications are sent to all riders signed up for the ride. If you are not on the list of qualified (i.e. you must be a member of FLC Seniors and the cycling group) riders by 8 AM on the day of the ride, then you will not be able to ride with us. If you were on the wait list, check for your name on the final list of riders, or expect an Email to confirm that you have been included on the ride.
