Cycling Ride

Carburn Park, St. Patrick's Island, Pearce Estate, Southview Ridge, Riverbend  33 k

Come join Hazel B and Ron F and Fran F on an adventure starting at Carburn Park. We will cycle North along the river to St. Patrick's Island. From there back to Pearce Estate for lunch. Onward and upward to  Southview Ridge with beautiful views of the Bow and the downtown. Then we will take the canal back to 50th Ave then south on pathway along Ogden Road into Millican Ogden and then south to Riverbend.

Thanks to Ron and Fran F, we will be able to have 2 groups depending on how many members sign up.

Complexity

• 18-20 kph on the flat, without a wind
• 1 Hill - 2 parts into Lynnwood, 2nd part steeper (could be walked)
• Moderate but long  hill to the Vietnamese Boat people Memorial 
• Long but minor hill into Millican Estates area
• Mostly on bike pathways, a few quiet roads

Instructions

Arrive by  9:40 a.m. to have your bike ready, meet your fellow cyclists and to be ready to depart at 10:00 am sharp.  

Please use Hazel’s home number 403-203-8118 up until 9:00 a.m. on the day of the ride and Hazel’s cell 403-200-6146 if its after 9:00 a.m.

RIDERS:

Come prepared: bring your helmet, lunch, water, emergency information, sun glasses, sun screen, spare inner tubes, tire pump, band-aids, and your smile. Be sure your bike is in good working order: bike bell, tires pumped, brakes and gears working, clean chain, mirror is a bonus.

Recheck the ride writeup after 8 am the day of the Ride for possible ride cancellations or other changes. If the ride is cancelled, email notifications are sent to all riders signed up for the Ride.

Driving Directions to Starting Location - Carburn Park:

"From Deerfoot Tr SE take East Glenmore Trail SE exit and drive east to 18 St SE, turn right on 18 St SE, turn right (West) at Rivervalley Dr SE. Drive past Community Centre and school on left and turn left at the Carburn Park sign (Riverview Dr SE) and then turn right into Carburn Park Parking lot. (Washrooms)

OR

From Deerfoot Tr SE take 24 St SE exit and drive east to 18 St SE turn left on 18 St SE, drive through Quarry Park, turn left (West) at Rivervalley Dr SE. Drive past Community Centre and school on left and turn left at the Carburn Park sign (Riverview Dr SE) and then turn right into Carburn Park Parking lot. (Washrooms)
