Best of High River 24
High River has the Highwood River running through its middle with protective berms on either side, lakes, an irrigation canal, parks, a fascinating town center, and a story to tell.
Starting from the south's Coop store, we wind along paths beside the Montrose ponds and Little Bow Park, then head east through a pleasant old part of town to the Emerson and Sunshine Lakes. Next, we travel along the long Little Bow canal and cross the Highwood river to the north side. We border Lineham Acres and follow the river on the street and a pathway as far as we can. After going around Highwood Lake, we go back to the south side of the river. We visit the town center to view the attractive shops and houses and the murals, then enter George Lane Memorial Park for lunch. We continue on the SW berm, then turn east along the 12th Avenue pathway with a breeze at our back.
