The ride will start at Carburn Park. Please arrive by 9:45 am so you can have your bike set up, rules reviewed and start riding at 10 am sharp! NOTE: TO ACCOMMODATE THE LARGE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS, THIS RIDE WILL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS. The plan is to travel east from Carburn Park to the irrigation canal. At 52nd Street we will leave the irrigation canal pathway and proceed to the 114 Avenue pathway which leads to Ralph Klein Park. Following a lunch break, we will return to Carburn Park. Depending on our return route, the ride is approximately 26 km. The route is essentially flat (but maybe bumpy when we first start out along the irrigation canal) but does include a couple of inclines on overpasses. The majority of the ride will be on pathways but there will be a short distance travelled on quiet residential streets. Washrooms are available at Carburn Park and Ralph Klein Park.
RIDERS - All riders must have a helmet and bike bell. A mirror is recommended. Bring water, lunch/snack, emergency information, and sunglasses and anything else you might need. Be sure your bike is in good working condition. Check your email and/or the ride write-up after 8 am on the day of the ride for possible changes. If the ride is cancelled, email notifications will be sent to all riders who have signed up. If you are unable to participate, please be sure to cancel your position. If you need to cancel or are delayed after 8 am on the day of the ride, contact the leader at 403-650-1095. Put your name on the waitlist if the ride capacity has been reached. Spaces may open up.
DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO CARBURN PARK: Going east on Glenmore Trail, turn right onto 18 Street SEE. Turn right at the lights at Rivervalley Drive. Turn left onto Riverview Drive and proceed for about 2 blocks. Turn right into Carburn Park. If you are coming from South Deerfoot Trail, turn north onto 24th Street. Turn left onto 18 Street and left again at the lights at Rivervalley Drive. Turn left onto Riverview Drive and carry on for about 2 bloks. Turn right into Carburn Park.
