This ride is a repeat of Sept 13th ride which was cancelled and uncancelled causing a lot of confusion. I am pre-signing up riders who missed out on the Sept 13th ride. Others can sign up on Oct 4th. Let’s hope for good weather. Hazel B
SPRING-BANK HILL, S.W CYCLE TRIP ~35 km
Complexity:
Mostly flat paved pathways, with 2 hills, (warning 1 hill is 2 km long).
Short distance gravel and natural pathway in Griffith Woods.
Total distance 35 kms.
Arrive at 9:40 a.m to have bikes ready to depart at 10:00 a.m.
Meet at Westside Kings church parking lot, just off 69th St, at Springbank Blvd S.W.
Ride Details:
We’ll begin our cycle heading south over the pass into Discovery Ridge, down along the river, a loop in/out of Griffith woods, back up out of Discovery Ridge, (0.5 km) gradual hill. Continue up the 69th street hill for (2 kms), to Westside Rec center. Continue into Christy Estates, Strathcona, West Springs, loop down, Bow TR, along Sarcee Tr, Signal Hill, along Westhills shopping center to bike path leading back to Westside Kings church.
Rider Instructions:
Bring your helmet (no helmet - no Club ride), lunch, water, emergency information, sun glasses, sun screen, spare tires, tire pump, band-aids and your smile. Be sure your bike is in good working order: bike bell, tires pumped, brakes and gears working, clean chain, mirror is a good idea.
If you are signed up and find you have to cancel, just put your FLC number in again and click "cancel sign up". If the ride is cancelled you will receive an email notice by 8 a.m. the day of the ride. The website will also show the ride as CANCELLED.
Driving directions to Westside Kings church :
Head west on Stoney Tr, (#8 hwy). Merge Rt onto 69th street, Lt on 69th, first Rt at Springbank Blvd, to Westside kings churches parking lot. Church is an old curling rink. Park along far East side of lot due to a possible Tues Farmer’s Market.
