Join me in a leisurely ride around the Glenmore Reservoir.
We will meet in Parking Area M or N at the west end of North Glenmore Park. Please arrive 20 minutes early so that we can meet and be ready to leave on time. We will proceed down the hill at the west end of the park into the Weaselhead, On the South side of Weaselhead we will encounter two small inclines and one more significant incline. Some may wish to walk up the hill which is totally okay. From there we will proceed to Glenmore Landing (approx 8.5 km from our starting point) where we can stop for about 30 minutes. Coffee, washrooms. and an early lunch break. Departing Glenmore Landing we will pass through Heritage Park, up Chopper Hill and travel behind the Rockyview Hospital. We will take the overpass over Glenmore Trail and then cross the dam at the end of the Reservoir into Acadia. Passing Lakeview Golf Course, we will take the overpass to the South side of Glenmore Trail into Lakeview and then back to our starting point at the west end of North Glenmore Park. A simple route and a leisurely pace, designed for relative newcomers to the Old Spokes Cycling Club.
Remember to bring your helmet, a spare tire tube, lunch, water, sunscreen if needed and dress for the weather. Multiple washrooms along the way.
To get to North Glenmore Park take Crowchild Trail north and enter the park. Follow the road through the park until you arrive at parking area M and N. Washrooms available at this site. Alternatively you could take 37th Street into the park and follow the road through the park. You would have to pass the meeting place and at the turn around make your way back to Parking Area M or N. These areas are side by side with the road passing through the middle.
