A Different View of Fish Creek Park - 30 - 35 km.
Starting from the Bow Valley Ranche parking lot, Bob Andrew will lead a tour of various areas of Fish Creek Park not usually on the bike rides. We will ride west on the regular pathway, visit the site of the first industrial business in Alberta, climb the hill to Shawnee Slopes and Evergreen and continue west to the Roller Coaster. After this fun ride we drop back into the Park via Marshall Springs and ride through the park to the far western end. We will return on shale and gravel paths (short and hopefully dry), passing the Hibernaculum and have lunch around the small amphitheatre. The return is better known but includes a tour of the race track and old entertainment area and we then climb up the north side of the park to ride along the ridge and get a wonderful view of the overall park area. Then back to the parking lot. The overall tour is about 30 - 35 km and includes a few hills which may be walked if necessary. There will be numerous stops along the entire route.
Remember your helmet, mask if desired, water, emergency information, sun screen (we hope) spare tire tubes, pump and lunch. Make sure your tires are in good condition and pumped hard. Dress for the weather. There will be some riding on streets in quiet neighbourhoods. PLEASE RIDE SINGLE FILE!!
