Ride the Legacy Trail from Canmore to Banff return, ~48Km, 10:00 AM
Weather permitting, we will ride the very scenic Bow River Valley, family friendly Legacy Trail through the Rockies. We will meet at the Canmore Alberta Tourist Centre, west parking lot at 9:30 to go over the rules of the road. To plan you morning departure time from Calgary, the drive to the Canmore Alberta tourist centre is an hour (95km) from Winsport (COP) on the Trans Canada Highway.
We will ride the Legacy Trail at a leisurely 17-18 KPH to Banff. The trail, has an gradual elevation gain from Canmore to Banff of 185 metres and an elevation loss of 106 metres. There is only one very short steep (20-25 metres) hill on the way west and the return trip will have any wind to our backs and is naturally more downhill. The trail is paved and we will bike through Banff residential streets to our lunch location at Central Park. After lunch we will circle back and return to our starting location by 2:30-3:00 PM.
Public Washroom facilities are located at the trailhead, along the way trail and in Banff. In addition bring your helmet, sunscreen, water, lunch, tools, inner tube and a mask.
