Deer Ridge, Bel-Aire, Oakridge, Woodbine 42
This ride in South Calgary travels on the City of Calgary bikeways and along quiet streets in upscale neighbourhoods.
Starting from the Ranch in Fish Creek, the route travels north through Deer Ridge and Queensland, steps west across to Bonavista Downs, and borders Lake Bonavista. After crossing two bridges near South Centre Mall, the route travels north again through Southwood, Haysboro, and Kingsland. Next, the ride wanders around Mayfair, Bel-Aire, Kelvin Grove, and Eagle Ridge, before emerging at Heritage Park. We stop for lunch at the Railway Café. In the afternoon, the ride winds through Bayview turns south through Oakridge and Cedarbrae, and curls around Woodbine to head north and then east for the return. Canyon Meadows is next, followed by Lake Bonaventure, and the Parkland pathway overlooking Fish Creek. We finish with a stop at Annie’s for ice cream or coffee.
The ride will have regrouping at intervals. Bring lunch to eat outside if you prefer.
Location: Ranch at Fish Creek. Directions: Drive south on Bow Bottom Trail almost to the end; turn right into the Ranch parking lot. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start.
