CYCLING
CALGARY FLC SENIORS CLUB
Old Spokes / OJ’s
The Old Spokes Cycle Club operates from early April until late October and offers two opportunities for cyclers to ride each week in and around Calgary. The Club has grown to over 80 members and aims to provide a satisfying day of cycling each week for all levels of seniors cyclists.
Each group departs at 10 am on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays and provides a faster and medium level of cycling. Both rides will be approximately 40 km long and will
last about 4 hours including a lunch break. Each rider is responsible for their own lunch
and water supply. There will be both a faster and medium cycling group formed each day with a leader and sweeper.
A third group called the OJ's (Old Jokes) operates from early April to the end of
September. This group departs at 10:30 am on Tuesdays usually from a different
departure point on a more leisurely ride for an average of 20 km.
We contact all members each week by EVITE to inform them of the different start locations.
To receive more information on these groups or if you wish to join our club.

A BIG THANK YOU TO MURRAY KARN for leading us thru another successful cycling year. This was his 8th year of being the cycling coordinator, starting with 7 members, and we are now 100 members strong.
Wow !!! What an accomplisment !!!
With the winter weather coming, we will have to draw a closure to our season, but if we do get some Indian Summer weather Murray says we can try and have another trip, and maybe go for a coffee together. Please watch for further Evites if this happens, otherwise:
The Season is CLOSED.
Our first activity in 2012 will be a
Spring Workshop and registration on March 31st
from 9am to 12 noon.
We wish to thank Ron Schaus for coordinating the Successful Wine and Cheese Wind - Up Party. We had about 80 people attend which shows what a enthusatic club we have. Ron is also our treasurer and our bus trip coordinator. Way to go Ron !!!
We wish to thank all the volunteers involved in
our club this year, and welcome aboard the new ones that expressed interest in helping us for next year. If you would like to be involved next year, please let us know.
See you all next year !
